BRAIN Student Group: UH Alumni Career Panel

Dear BRAIN Student Group members,

Are you a recent or prospective graduate planning your career after your M.S. and Ph.D.? Then this event is for you! In association with the BRAIN center at the University of Houston, we are delighted to invite you to our panel discussion and networking event focusing on careers after your graduation.

Significantly, after finishing the Ph.D., the career may take many forms, including different roles in academia and industry. This event aims to raise awareness for the prospective graduate students about the opportunities and constraints present in various career paths, knowing the steps needed to be taken and the tentative timelines to apply. Our panelists are alumni of the University of Houston who have taken roles in both industries as well as academia. They will discuss some of the broader tendencies when it comes to the Ph.D. job market and careers in the university sector while sharing their personal experiences. We will encourage questions from the audience in the latter portion of the panel, but should you have any specific questions you would like the panel to address during the discussion, please fill out the form here. We will try our best to cover these in the discussion.

We are excited to have a diverse and experienced pool of alumni with us to share their journey and answer any questions you have. The details of the panelists are given below:

1) Dr. Renee Matthews (Postdoctoral Fellow @ UTMB)

2) Dr. Jesus Cruz-Garza (Postdoctoral Researcher @ Cornell University)

3) Dr. Ricardo D. Sosa (Senior Scientist @ AbbVie Pharmaceuticals)
