Art and Neuroscience- A Look Back at La Catrina Monarca

On October 29th in Houston and November 10th in San Francisco, the IUCRC BRAIN Center engineering team with the collaboration of the environmental artist Geraldina Wise and visual artist Rodrigo Cid Velazco showcased La Catrina Monarca. The performance blended cultural heritage, art, and neuroscience. As she was performing, an EEG (electroencephalogram) cap worn under her crown captured her brain activity. At both locations, our audience witnessed a live visualization a mind’s response during an artistic performance, facilitating an understanding of the integration of music in brain’s behavior.
Thanks to our collaborators and guests!
